Took Round 3 like a Champ!

Hi friends and family, I hope you’re all doing well and for those needing encouragement, I hope you’ve scheduled your colonoscopy. So far, 6 of my friends or family members have gotten theirs.

After a dreadful week following round 2 I was certain the week following round 3 was going to be brutal. I’ve never been so happy to be wrong! As most of you know, I’m seldom ever wrong! (Ha Ha). I asked my oncologist  if he thought I might benefit from IV Hydration at home during my week of recovery and he got everything approved for twice weekly in home Saline IV’s. This seems to have made a huge difference.

I was able to go shopping for shorts and shirts that fit me… Almost had to look in the Juniors section for 30″ waist shorts. I drove my truck through the car wash and shined it all up to get it ready for custom pin striping… And most importantly we had a family “Reveal Party” to find out if Jeremy and Jennifer are having grandson or granddaughter. Hint…the color of the sign is a give away.

Another bright spot this week was getting my truck pin striped. Those who know me know I love my truck. My great friend Mike Guida treated me to a custom pin stripe detail on my truck and he brought in a 70 yr old Elvis impersonator and pin striping master from the 70’s. After talking with me about my interests and what I liked, he said… OK, I got this. I now have the one and only “Crown King Edition.”

I head into round 4 on Monday and do so filled with the joy of the many blessings of this past week, the precious time with family and friends, and the calls, texts and visits from many of you. I’m hopeful that next week will be easy on me and the hydration proves helpful again. I’ve had so many small blessings in answer to my prayers that my faith grows stronger every day. “Hear my prayer Lord, listen to my cry for mercy, when I am in distress I call to you because you answer me. Psalm 86:5.

In closing, I ask for your continued thoughts and prayers. They are uplifting for my soul, convincing in my faith, and bring positivity to my spirit. All of your gifts are an essential part of my battle and you give me strength and courage. I am forever grateful .

With love, hope and prayers.

Kevin

  5. Kevin, you’re in my prayers daily! Congrats on the new boy coming to your family. Keep the fighting spirit — maybe watch “Rocky Balboa” (the best one, I’d argue) a time or two — and lay your worries on God’ s shoulders. You’ve got this.

  6. Kevin, not surprised to see your fighting spirit and strength getting stronger as you continue your battle. I hadn’t visited the blog in a few weeks and so happy to see all the good news! You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. BTW- I too am a strong advocate for getting your colonoscopy. I have been getting them since my 40th and doc says she wants me back every 5 years. It’s just clock work at this point. You just have to do it! Keep your fighting spirit!
